SOLO SHOW | BOX IT IN, BOX IT OUT, FLATTEN IT | Marion Landry

We are pleased to announce a solo show by our artist Marion Landry.

In this first-time showing series the artist explores the possible meaning contained within the box as an object but also as subconscious defense mechanism – that of compartmentalizing sections of our life – used to avoid dissonance, mental discomfort and anxiety. The work engages with the action of collecting, assembling or holding-on as a paradox to the act of flattening, deconstructing or letting go. This work further expands her predominant concerns on how boundaries, edges and limits are perceived, interpreted and understood.

Here are few words on the show written by the artist.

I’m feeling boxed in. Get it out. I’m feeling stuck or limited. Free yourself. I have to compartmentalize areas of my life. Live a more unified existence. This box is very special to me. Just recycle it. I’m going to use this box to put my things in it. I am going to use this box to move my things out. Think within the box. Think outside the box. Establish boundaries. Live without borders.
